GARTH STORY- THESE MEN ARE MINE

I apologize sir, there has been a misunderstanding, my name is Arcadia smith. Garth looks up at Arcadia smith as he he is holding up two of her toughies by the scruff of their thick necks

Garth- I guess you are..

My name is Garth

My friend professor Lumiere recommended your nursing home to me, you can see I am under a lot of mental fatigue and nervous strain.

Arcadia[to herself]- liar!

Garth- will you treat me?

Arcadia- why not? Come to my office…

Garth checks in to Arcadia smith’s nursing home as a patient—

Arcadia- this is your room Garth , the room adjacent to yours is chief justice Galbraith

Garth- I hope he does not snore?

Outside the door Arcadia and Dr. helmet confer-

Dr helmet – I don’t trust Garth , it seems like a trap to me?

Arcadia- how does it matter , after tonight he will be mine , bring his I ID and papers to my room.

Arcadia studies Garth file- this man can do anything he has contact in high places he has left nothing untouched,what an excellent catch!

Helmuth- we have to implant the electrode in Galbraith brain today miss smith

Arcadia-OK,helmet we will deal with him first and later with Garth.

Later that night at a very late hour in justice Galbraith room—

Arcadia- a mild sedative sir , prelude to the main treatment…

Galbraith-OK get it over with, though I think it is all waste of time.

Garth is very alert and on guard and overhears everything from the adjacent room

“ ward boys pushing a trolley? What is going on here?”

Garth peeps out in to the corridor-

Where are these devils taking justice Galbraith at this time of the night I will follow them

Mr Garth ! go back to your room this is miss smith’s order!Garth is accosted outside his door by bouncer Dino.

Oh ! I think we have met earlier, how was my fist?

I am sorry mr Garth but your walking in the corridors may disturb other patients.

Garth- it is fine my friend ,ta ! ta !

Garth returns to his room and thinks-“ it is not wise to create another nuisance,I will go through this window and over the chimney pipes to the roof”[he tries to unfasten the window]-

“oh! It is barred and the glass is also so tough, this place is a prison!”

“to quietly sneak past that sentry posted in the corridor and to reach judge Galbraith room seems to be a difficult task, sooner or letter they will bring him back”

Garth peeps out from his room in to the corridor---“very good! that brute is so deeply lost in pages of pornographic magazine , perhaps I can enter judge Galbraith room without distracting him!”

Garth is successful in his attempt-“shower room in the toilet seems like a good place to hide in”

Lord chief justice is brought back to his room after one hour—

Dr. Helmut-“ he is coming to miss smith”

Arcadia- yes give him few more minutes then I will test him for his loyalty.

Arcadia smith-Galbraith! Listen to me you will obey whatever orders I give you unquestioningly, do you understand?

Galbraith-I certainly do miss smith!

Arcadia – this glass contains a fatal poison called hydrocyanic acid, I wish you to drink it!

Galbraith—for your good health madam!

Helmut- he drank without hesitation thinking it was poison. Anew slave for life to you.

Arcadia- yes Helmut

and now it is the turn of Garth for our special treatment.

Behind the shower curtains Garth overhears them and is horrified.

Helmuth- do I have to take Garth to the operation theater now ,miss smith?

Arcadia- in half an hour smith.

Helmuth- if garth gets suspicious we will have problem dealing with him.

Arcadia- I will take care of that,Galbraith is asleep now, we should leave him now!

Garth come out of his hiding place after they have left the room-----

Oh! This glass contains only ordinary tap water, but Galbraith took it believing it was poison what mischief have they played on him and what do they intend to do tome?

Garth returns to his room –“something evil is happening in this house, but I cannot prove anything just yet,Arcadia smith and her friends will come for me now”[Garth is in deep thought]

Garth [lying on his cot at Arcadia smith,s nursing home

“what are you up to now miss smith?asks Garth as Dr.helmet and Arcadia smith come to his room

Arcadia- nothing to worry Garth! We are giving you a mild sedative, part of our special therapy…

Garth – take that thing away miss smith, I do not need any of your sedative drugs

Arcadia- donot get upset garth ,we know what is best for you.

“I KNOW! NOT YOU!” says Garth as his hand shoots out and grabs the wrist of dr helmuth holding the syringe ,in a tight grip.

Awww….. my wrist!-moans dr. helmet

Arcadia smith throws something towards Garth face---

Ah! Garth reels back and staggers on to the bed

Arcadia- quick helmuth effect of that spray I blew in his face lasts only for a few minutes , give him that injection!

Garth gathers all his power in massive surge of strength to maintain his consciousness

--“have to remain awake!”

Have to remain awake” he tells himself repeatedly as he lashes out with left hook to the chin of Dr helmuth

Acadia tell your goons to leave me alone ,I am leaving this place!, I am leaving now”—Garth snarls at miss smith and her gang of murderers .

GARTH STORY-THESE MEN ARE MINE

ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF GARTH STORY PUBLISHED IN HINDUSTAN DAINIK [HINDI NEWSPAPER IN INDIA] FROM 3 MAY 1970-25 JULY 1970 AS "अपने आदमी "----

Professor Lumiere is having dinner with Garth and a prominent industrialist otto metlar after finishing an exhausting job on a top secret experimental work for defence-

Otto metlar- oh professor you look very tired, you need rest, and I will even suggest you a pace for that..spend ten days in arcadia smith’s nursing home, she worked wonders for me she is a fantastic woman.

Garth- arcadia smith? Who is her sir otto?

Otto- a beautiful woman and intelligent too, runs best nursing home in the country, all big shots go there

Garth- professor go there, what is good for pop singers should be good for you too!

Professor- rest therapy? oh the offer seems tempting!

Professor- I will telephone to fix an appointment with her.

Otto- no no! Professor, arcadia agrees only with great difficulty ,,leave I to me I will fix it for you!

That night Otto metlar calls on arcadia smith on telephone-“arcadia,lumiere will be ‘useful’”

Arcadia- ok matler I will meet him tomorrow at 11 am give me the full data on the life of professor lumiere from the file of character and life of important persons data base.

Ok !miss smith

“This eminent scientist who is well connected and is on friendly terms with many big people, I think he is the right case for our ‘special’ treatment.

Next day in front of a large regal palatial house in mafayer London-

Ok professor I hope you will regain your health and fitness when we meet after two weeks-says garth as he drops proff. Lumiere at arcadia smith nursing home

Professor- I hope the same Garth.

Arcadia-professor I am arcadia smith ,I am happy to find you amongst overselves,when would you like to be admitted?

Professor –‘right away madam smith’

Keep professor in a vip suit adjoining lord mountathol’s suit.

Dr. Helmut-very well Miss smith!

Professor lumiere- why I am being given this injection?

Professor lumiere-[yawning] I am tired, I want to sleep.

Ms smith- he is ready take him to Operation Theater.

Lumiere’s neuronal synapses are being analyzed-

Dr. helmuth and arcadia smith watch the professor obeying the command of shooting himself in the head

Helmuth- he is your’s until death! Miss smith!

Smith- good one more recruit for our project!

Meanwhile Garth picks up the telephone to know how professor’s health is improving in the nursing home

Garth! Hello!! Am feeling rejuvenated! Ten years younger and full of vigor!- Lumiere booming voice in the phone startles Garth!

Very well I will come and see you! Garth answers on the phone.

The electrode implanted in the professor’s brain relays the wish of Arcadia smith—“Lumiere! No visitors! Get rid of him”

No garth! Please stay away .i don’t want to see you now! Professor responds.

Garth- professor what happened to you? You do not want to meet me?

Lumiere[at the other end of the phone]—lumiere!stop irritating me![click]phone disconnected!

Garth [thinking and wondering]-professor disconnected the phone while I was still talking; he has never done that before!

“he has changed! What have they done to him in that nursing home? Garth is puzzled.

Ms smith--Professor Lumiere leaves nursing home after a fortnight—lumiere! Remember you are constantly under my control! Whenever I call you, you will come without any fuss!

Lumiere-[I am] your obedient slave miss smith!

Ms smith- you will not speak about this to anybody, to break this rule will mean instant death!

Lumiere- I understand ms smith!

Now you get on with your work Lumiere…whenever I need you my message will be relayed to you!

Garth meets the professor outside the nursing home, helping him with his bags he comments-“professor you indeed look ten years younger.”

Professor “Garth I feel as if I am reborn! Arcadia smith is certainly an amazing woman! ….i have never met anyone like her whom I admire and respect so much!

Garth- if I hadn’t known you better ,I would have said you have fallen in love with that woman!

Professor turning his back on Garth- bah! You don’t understand anything, now if you please excuse me I have work to do.

Garth [thinking to himself]—

“Professor you have changed! I would like to meet this Arcadia smith!”

“ am sorry sir ,but you can’t meet miss Arcadia smith without prior appointment”- Garth is being held off at the door of nursing home by an orderly.

“Then I will make that appointment now” responds an adamant Garth

“That is impossible , now go away- orderly tries to shut the door on Garth’s face while Garth hold it open with his iron hand-“tell her that I am Garth and I want to see her now.

Garth forces his way in as orderly gestures menacingly-“so you want to play it rough? Have it your way suits me fine I love to play it tough too it is my nature! Try me!

Garth catches hold of the orderly’s wrist and swings him like adoll over his head and strikes his other two roughneck colleagues.

Arcadia smith witnesses the fight- who is that tough guy deno?

Calls himself Garth! Miss Smith almost broke my neck!

“Garth? if he really is Garth I can use him” thinks Arcadia smith.

Stop this racket right now do you hear me? She shouts to her bouncers fighting Garth.
