Lord of the computers[synopsis]
Two astronauts danny keegan and red Mallory orbiting in a
space capsule around the moon are suddenly struck by a strange force which
severs their link to NASA and when communication resumes there is consternation
among NASA scientists, astronauts are hurriedly brought back to earth and NASA
scientists are horrified to see two shriveled up old men instead of young
keegan and mellory,professor lumiere is called upon to help solve the
mystery,he takes his friend garth along with him to cape canady space center,
they are informed by NASA scientists that two soviet astronauts sent from
beyakanoor Russia have also met a similar fate. American space program me is suffering a set back, garth volunteers to
solve the mystery and after undergoing a rigorous training he is sent in a
spacecraft to moon ,and at around the same spot his ship is struck by a strange
force, it starts to weaken him and he is in severe pain ,.but he ventures out
in space to investigate and is accosted by an alien craft, he lose
consciousness and is brought in this space craft piloted by a pair of robots to
a planet called amphor, on landing in gleaming golden city he is taken to town council chief ephram who
is head of humans called “models” by the
machines,and meets his daughter sinara,who informs him that this beautiful
planet is being run entirely by robots controlled by their lord and master a huge computer called IMPHAL, machines have
taken over and garth witnesses a weird ceremony in the hall of machines where a
strange energy beam strikes a young couple
selected as a sacrifice to the computer ,computer sucks away their life force,
youth and vitality to reenergize it’s circuits and leaves the young couple
doddering old man and woman. mystery of keegan and mellory suddenly getting old
is revealed to garth, he is horrified and when he is espied upon by robots of
imphal talking to sinara about fighting the the tyranny of machines,they decide
to fight back and escape in a ship bound for a satellite AXATAL ,of planet amphor where sinara’s lover
dyanos is held captive along with many other rebel youths,in a kind of
correctional facility and are used as a slave labor for mining imphal soon deduces that garth and sinara
when last seen under a bridge near a tunnel leading up to platform from which a
ship was about to leave amphor for slave colony axatal must have taken over
this ship, and thus he accurately pinpoints their location to slave colony, in
the meantime garth and sinara have managed to free dynos and jainb who are
being tortured by robots for planning an escape from axatal and subsequently
they release others from penal colony for rebels labeled hardened criminals by disabling a force field surrounding the
high security prison generated by an
atomic power plant which is cunningly destroyed by garth and they manage to
flee from pursuing robots grabbing a robot, hijacking a robot driven vehicle,
ramming it into a horde of waiting robots they manage to escape to a volcano
where they find hoarding of sulpher ,salt peter mines and coal from trees burnt
by lava, and plan to make dynamite from these three constituents under garth’s
guidance and find robot’s weakness by opening captive robot’s head unit and
finding that it is driven to confusion and state of madness if it’s radio
signals are interfered with.in the meantime imphal analyzes accurately the
rebel’s escape route and having the brain wave patterns of escaped rebels
continuously monitored, he sends a cloud of poisonous gas NUCLIDS which pursues the prisoners in to
volcano , they try to escape the cloud by running deep down in to volcano ,few
rebels are suffocated but garth manages
to escape by jumping across a river of lava carrying sinara in his arms, dynos
and others follow, surviving rebels are helped by garh when he acts as a decoy
to lure the robots away from them ,grabbing the command vehicle guiding the robots on his heels he sends
command to pursuing robots who drown themselves in to hot volcanic lava. Garth
and his friends hijack a space craft to amphor in a bid to blow up the hall of
machines, their ship is detected by imphal ‘saccurate computer analysis and
escaping from pursuing space ships they crashland in a forest and making a raft
they flow down a river which enters amphor’s underground,while coming over
ground sinara is captured by robots and dynos is also captured when he tries to
save his lover, both are taken to hall of machines in a ceremony of sacrifice
to imphal, garth and his rebel band
manage to escape and reach hall of machines blowing up a few robots guards on
their way, and manage to plant their drums of dynamite in the basement of hall
of machines right under the tail of giant computer imphal and ultimatelely
manage to blow up the tyrant lord of the computers ,robots are left without
guidance from their master and in confusion destroy each other,ephram sinara’s
father takes over amphor ,garth declines
his offer to stay back and decides to return to earth and lands in his space
capsule in north atlantic where he is picked up in cape Canaveral.
